In addition to a dedicated computer room, many schools now have stand-alone computers in most classrooms. Q sell a range of new Windows 7 teaching laptops and both new and low-cost refurbished desktop computers (including desktop, tower & small form factor). We also carry out repairs & upgrades to existing computers and supply quality software & peripherals!

All computers supplied by us adheer to or exceed all of the recommendations set out under the NCTE ICT Procurement Frameworks (School PC and School Notebook).

Whether new or refurbished, all our computers come with our tried-and-tested Q Software Pack. This pack contains specially selected software to keep your computer running smoothly and free from malicious software. The pack also contains popular applications and educational games including:

A few notes on Refurbished Computers ...

What is a refurbished computer?

Our definition of a refurbished computer is one that was previously owned (by a company), has come into our posession and has since under-gone a complete overhaul process.

What does the "overhaul process" involve?

This process includes rigorous testing of all components to ensure they are functioning correctly - any components deemed faulty are replaced. Also, any dust or dirt that has built up over the previous life of the computer is removed and all casings have been throughly cleaned using industrial-strength cleaning solutions. All previous data has been securely erased and a clean installation of Windows XP operating system (or higher) has been installed. All Windows Updates and Service Packs have also been applied.

Is the Operating System legally licenced?

Of course! We are a Microsoft Registered Refurbisher - you can find out details in the Online Directory of Registered Refurbishers. All our computers come licenced with Windows XP or above and include a Certificate of Authenticity to prove it!

Where do the computers come from?

Typically all our computers come from government departments or banks in Ireland, the UK or parts of Europe. These institutions typically replace hardware (irrespective of condition and for no particular reason) every 2-3 years.

What is the warranty period, if any?

All our refurbished computers come with a 3-month warranty covering all parts.

Computer, Desktop, Tower - what is the difference?

All of the above terms are simply variations of each other really! The term "computer" is a generic word used to describe all forms of computers. A desktop computer typically sits horizontally on a table-top but modern desktop computers can also be set standing upright (vertically). A tower computer is one which natively stands vertically, but again, it is often possible to set the tower lying horizontally! Small-Form Factor is also another term used to descibe desktop computers. These are typically neater and smaller than their standard desktop counterparts.
